Early Career and Sporting Lisbon Academy
Pedro Miguel Marques Cayado is a Portuguese footballer who plays as a midfielder for Ponferradina. He joined the academy of Lisbon-based Sporting CP in 2001, and made it to the first-team squad in the 2005/06 season.
Debut for Sporting and Loan Spells
Cayado made his only appearance for Sporting on 7 January 2006, coming on as a substitute in a Primeira Liga match against Braga. He spent the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons on loan at Estoril Praia in the LigaPro.
Move to Trofense and Interest from Russia
Upon the expiration of his Sporting contract in 2008, Cayado signed for Trofense as a free agent. They had recently secured promotion to the Primeira Liga. Cayado went on trial with Russian club Terek Grozny in February 2009, and terms for a five-year contract were initially agreed, but the transfer fell through.
Relegation with Trofense and Loan Spells
Trofense finished bottom of the Primeira Liga in 2008/09 and were relegated to the second division. Cayado joined Polish Ekstraklasa club Zagłębie Lubin on loan, but returned to Trofense in the mid-season transfer window. He moved to Cypriot club Olympiacos in 2010 and stayed there for a year.
Success in Bulgaria with Beroe
In January 2012, Cayado signed for Beroe Stara Zagora in Bulgaria. He made 59 appearances for the club in the Bulgarian First League, scoring 17 goals. He also helped them win the Bulgarian Cup and Super Cup.
Return to Ukraine and Later Career
Cayado played for Tavriya Simferopol in the Ukrainian Premier League in the first half of 2014. After his departure from Tavriya, he had stints with clubs in Portugal, Spain, and Poland before joining Ponferradina in 2023.
