David Mitchell, a British actor and comedian, was born in Salisbury, England in 1974. He grew up in a family where both parents were fully occupied with his upbringing until his younger brother was born. In 1977, the family moved to Oxford, where David attended Abingdon School. He continued his education at Peterhouse College, Cambridge University.
During his time in school, Mitchell discovered his literary talent and desire to become a writer. He wrote several miniatures and humorous stories, showcasing his skills. Alongside his interest in literature, Mitchell also developed a passion for performing arts, particularly comedy.
It was during his college years that Mitchell met Robert Webb, and their friendship soon turned into a collaboration. Together, they formed a comedy troupe and presented their show, "The Mitchell and Webb Situation," which gained popularity. In 2003, they starred in the sitcom "Peep Show," where Mitchell's character Mark Corrigan, a socially awkward clerk, and Webb's character Jeremy Osborne, a energetic musician, shared a cheap apartment. This sitcom became their most notable work and established them as prominent British comedic actors. It received numerous awards, including a BAFTA and "Best Comedy Performance" in 2009.
In addition to "Peep Show," Mitchell has appeared in various television projects such as "Doctors and Nurses," "ShakespeaRe-Told," "The Two Faces of Mitchell and Webb," and "Comic Relief 2007: The Big One." He has also been active on radio, with his sketch show "That Mitchell and Webb Sound" eventually transitioning into the television series "That Mitchell and Webb Look."

As a popular and in-demand actor, Mitchell has also appeared in advertisements. Notably, he starred in an advertisement for Macintosh computers, where his character portrayed a PC and made humorous remarks about the superiority of Mac OS X. This advertisement received complaints from PC users and manufacturers. In another advertising campaign, Mitchell lent his voice to an anti-cocaine campaign, where he voiced the dialogue between two nostrils discussing the harmful effects of cocaine.
In 2009, Mitchell and Webb released a joint book titled "This Mitchell and Webb Book," showcasing their comedic talents in written form.
