Biography of Davit Mujiri
Early Life and Career in GeorgiaDavit Mujiri is a Georgian football player who currently plays as a midfielder for Lokomotiv Moscow. He was born on March 14, 1995, and is the son of the famous Georgian defender David (Dmitri) Mujiri. Mujiri began his football journey as a youth player at Tbilisi's Dynamo. At the age of 17, he made his debut in the top league of Georgia and scored his first goal for Dynamo Tbilisi on September 17. In the 1997/98 season, Mujiri scored 18 goals and was recognized as the best player of the 9th championship of the country by the sports newspaper "Setubali".
International Career
On March 24, 2007, Mujiri made his international debut in a qualifying match for the UEFA Euro 2008 against Scotland, which Scotland won 2-1. He also played the full match against the Faroe Islands in another qualifying match for the same tournament on March 28, 2007.
Move to Lokomotiv Moscow
In January 2008, Mujiri participated in the first preseason training camp of Krylia Sovetov in the UAE under the guidance of the new coach, Leonid Slutsky. However, he did not join the team for the second training camp in Spain. On January 29, Slutsky expressed his regret over the inability to contact Mujiri, and on January 30, Lokomotiv Moscow announced the signing of a three-year contract with the Georgian midfielder. The legitimacy of the transfer was questioned as Krylia Sovetov did not give consent for the player's transfer, and the transfer contract was signed by Alexander Baranovsky (former club president from 2005 to 2007). On February 1, 2008, representatives of Lokomotiv Moscow and Krylia Sovetov met and agreed to resolve the situation. Considering Mujiri's desire to play for Lokomotiv Moscow and the transfer fee of $1.1 million that would be paid by Krylia Sovetov after the contract registration in the Russian Premier League, the parties decided to drop all claims against each other and refrain from further comments on the matter.
Achievements
Throughout his career, Mujiri has achieved several notable accomplishments. He was the champion of Georgia in the 1997/98 season and won the Georgian Super Cup in 1997. He was also a finalist in the Georgian Cup in 1998. In addition, Mujiri was the Moldovan champion in the 2000/01 season, the Moldovan vice-champion in 1999/00, and won the Moldovan Cup in 2001. He was the runner-up in the Austrian championship in 2001/02 and a finalist in the Austrian Cup in 2002. Mujiri has received several individual accolades, including being voted as the best player of the Georgian championship in 1997/98 and the top scorer of the Moldovan championship in 2000/2001 with 17 goals. He was also named the best player of Krylia Sovetov in 2006 and the second-best player in 2007, as well as the top scorer of Krylia Sovetov in the Russian championship in 2007 with 9 goals.
