Early Career
David Ospina began his professional football career at just 17 years old with Atlético Nacional, one of Colombia's most prestigious clubs. By the age of 19, his impressive performances attracted interest from international clubs such as Atlético Madrid and Boca Juniors, unlike his predecessor Óscar Córdoba. Ospina won two league titles before turning 20.
Move to Nice
After three seasons with Atlético Nacional, Ospina made the move to French club Nice in 2008 for a transfer fee of €2 million. His initial attempt to join Boca Juniors had fallen through.
Failed Transfer to Beşiktaş
In July 2012, rumors circulated that Ospina would be joining Turkish club Beşiktaş. However, the deal collapsed on July 24, 2012.
Arrival at Arsenal
On July 27, 2014, Ospina signed for Arsenal in the English Premier League. He donned the number 13 jersey for the Gunners.
International Career
Ospina made history by becoming the second-youngest goalkeeper to start for the Colombian national team during the 2010 World Cup qualifiers at the age of 20. He suffered a facial injury in training for the 2011 Copa América and missed the tournament, with Enrique Martínez taking his place.
Ospina played in Colombia's starting lineup for their opening World Cup qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup against Bolivia, Venezuela, and Argentina, with the team winning, drawing, and losing respectively.
