Early Career: Accordionist and CompetitorDavide Anzaghi, born into a family of esteemed musicians, inherited his passion for the accordion from his father, Luigi Oreste Anzaghi. As a young performer, he excelled in national competitions and achieved remarkable success at the World Accordion Championships, securing third place in 1948 and 1949 before claiming the top prize in 1950 and 1952.
Musical Education and Teaching
Despite his prowess on the accordion, Anzaghi opted to prioritize his education and pursue a comprehensive musical foundation. He graduated from the Milan Conservatory and subsequently dedicated himself to teaching, passing on his knowledge and skills to aspiring accordionists. Simultaneously, he immersed himself in composition studies under the tutelage of renowned composers Giorgio Federico Ghedini and Franco Donatoni.
Compositional Career
Anzaghi's compositional career blossomed in the late 1960s. His works quickly gained recognition and accolades, winning prestigious competitions led by musical luminaries such as Gian Francesco Malipiero and Olivier Messiaen.
Leadership in Music Organizations
Beyond his creative pursuits, Anzaghi has played a significant role in the advancement of music in Italy. Since 1997, he has served as a board member of the Milan Conservatory. In 2003, he was elected President of the Italian Society for Contemporary Music (SIMC), the national branch of the International Society for Contemporary Music.
