Biography of Davina McCall
Davina McCall, whose full name is Davina Lucy Pascale McCall, was born in London in 1967. Her parents were Florence and Andrew McCall. When she was three years old, she moved to Surrey to live with her paternal grandparents after her parents divorced. Her mother moved to Paris, where her relatives lived, and Davina only saw her on holidays. The actress often described her mother as "wild" and eventually started calling her an "alcoholic."
Davina spent her school years in Hammersmith, where she attended Godolphin and Latymer Girls School. During her school years, she developed anorexia, which was caused by anxiety and a lack of attention in her childhood.
Early Career
At the age of 15, Davina started performing with her first band, and by the time she was 19, she decided to pursue a solo career. By a stroke of luck, Eric Clapton, a longtime family friend, helped her record her first demo album. However, she did not achieve the expected success. Nevertheless, thanks to Clapton, she appeared in Kylie Minogue's music video for the song "Word Is Out." For a while, Davina worked as a restaurant manager and a singing waitress in Paris. It seemed like her career was about to take off, but after an unsuccessful audition for a role in the cabaret "Moulin Rouge," she returned to London.
In London, she quickly became the owner of a nightclub, but even then, Davina had problems with drugs. After several years of failures, McCall landed a job on the TV channel MTV, where she worked on shows like "Ray Coke's Most Wanted," "Streetmate," and "Eurotrash." She participated in various TV series and shows, but her most successful one was the reality show "Big Brother." Throughout her long tenure on the show, she found herself in absurd and sometimes vulgar situations. For example, in the sixth season of the show, she conducted an interview with a contestant wearing only elegant lingerie and later mentioned her intimate piercing.
In May 2008, the popular British tabloid "News of the World" announced that Davina would leave the show after the upcoming season. However, she soon denied this false information, saying, "I won't leave Big Brother. They'll have to kill me to make me do it."
Personal Life
In 1997, Davina married Andrew Leggett, but their marriage ended in divorce after two years. Her next partner and husband was Matthew Robertson, whom she married in 2000. The wedding took place at Eastnor Castle, a 19th-century castle. They had three children together: two daughters named Holly and Tilly, and a son named Chester, born in September 2006.
In the seventh episode of the TV show "Who Do You Think You Are?" broadcasted by BBC, it was revealed that Davina had several famous ancestors in her family tree. She turned out to be the granddaughter of Célestin Hennion, a famous French police chief in the early 20th century.
In addition to her career as a TV presenter, Davina also appeared in several films, with the most notable being "A Bear's Christmas Tail." She also became the author of several exercise DVDs for weight loss, created by her personal trainers Mark and Jackie Wren.
