Giorgi Imedashvili: Georgian Defender

Giorgi Imedashvili is a Georgian footballer who plays as a defender. Born in Rustavi, Georgia, his journey into the world of football began at the local club, Gordi.

Early Career and Professional Debut

After honing his skills at Gordi, Imedashvili went on to join the academy of FC Dinamo Tbilisi. His professional career kicked off at WIT Georgia, where he made his debut in European competitions in 2005 during the UEFA Intertoto Cup. Unfortunately, WIT Georgia was eliminated after a defeat against FC Lombard Pápa.

Transfer to Dynamo Kyiv and European Exposure

In 2006, Imedashvili signed a five-year contract with Ukrainian powerhouse FC Dynamo Kyiv. He made his Ukrainian Premier League debut in a match against FC Metalurh Zaporizhya on July 29, 2006. Imedashvili also had brief stints with Latvian club FK Ventspils, Hungarian club Nyíregyháza Spartacus, and Greek club PAOK.

National Team Career

Alongside his club career, Imedashvili represented Georgia at the youth level, making 11 appearances for the Georgia U21 team. He made his senior international debut for Georgia on September 6, 2006, in a friendly against Ukraine. While he started the match, he was substituted in the 35th minute.

Return to Georgia

In 2009, Imedashvili returned to his home country and joined FC Olimpi Rustavi. He spent the remainder of his professional career with Georgian clubs, including FC Sioni Bolnisi, FC Merani Martvili, and FC Sulori Vani.
