Early Life and Career
Tugay Kerimoğlu, born on August 24, 1970, is a Turkish former footballer and current coach. He played as a midfielder and represented Turkey internationally for over a decade. Tugay's early career began with his hometown club Galatasaray, where he joined the youth academy in 1987.
Galatasaray and International Debut
In 1992, Tugay made his professional debut for Galatasaray. Over the next several years, he played a pivotal role in the club's success, winning seven Turkish Süper Lig titles, four Turkish Cups, and four Turkish Super Cups. In 1994, he made his international debut for Turkey.
Europe and Besiktas
In 2001, Tugay moved to Italy to join Inter Milan. He spent three seasons with Inter, before returning to Turkey to play for Besiktas in 2004. During his time with Besiktas, he won another Turkish Süper Lig title in 2005-06 season.
Return to Galatasaray and Final Years
After two years with Besiktas, Tugay returned to Galatasaray in 2006. He remained with the club until 2008, when he signed a two-year contract with Istanbul BB. He retired from playing in 2010.
Coaching Career
After retiring from playing, Tugay began his coaching career. He has managed several clubs, including Galatasaray, Bursaspor, and the Turkish national youth teams.
