Biography of Deborah Pratt
Deborah Pratt is an American actress, screenwriter, and producer. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and studied psychology at Webster University in St. Louis.
Early Career
Deborah Pratt made her screen debut in 1975, with a small role in the television series "Police Woman". Throughout the late 1970s, she appeared in several other TV shows and films, but mostly in minor roles. In the early 1980s, Pratt gained popularity with her appearances in the popular series "Benson" and "Magnum, P.I." In 1983, she starred in the science fiction film "Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone".
Writing and Producing Career
Pratt wrote her first screenplay for the film "Airwolf" in 1984. She went on to write several episodes for the television series "Magnum, P.I." based on her screenplay. From 1989 to 1993, she wrote over ten scripts for the popular science fiction series "Quantum Leap", for which she was also nominated for an Emmy Award. Her last screenplay was for the family animated film "Our Friend, Martin" in 1999, for which she received another Emmy nomination.
Later Career
In the late 1980s, Pratt appeared in two more films directed by her husband. She then focused mainly on her role as Ziggy in the series "Quantum Leap", appearing in 38 episodes over five years. She also made guest appearances in other television shows and played the role of Dr. Allison in the comedy film "Exit to Eden". After that, Pratt took a step back from acting and tried her hand at directing with the films "Friends" and "Corinna, Corinna".
Awards and Personal Life
Deborah Pratt has been nominated for four Emmy Awards. Three of the nominations were for her work on "Quantum Leap" as an executive producer, and one was for her work as a writer and producer on "Our Friend, Martin". Pratt is married to Donald Bellisario, and they have two sons, Nicholas and Troy Avery.
