Early Life and EducationDermot Mulroney, an American actor, was born on the last day of October in 1963 in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. Growing up in a household with a mother who had a background in acting and a father who was a law professor at Villanova University, Mulroney developed an early interest in the performing arts. He joined a local drama group in school and also took violin lessons, performing with a youth orchestra.
Career Beginnings
After graduating from T.C. Williams High School in 1981, Mulroney moved to Chicago and enrolled at Northwestern University's School of Communication. Four years later, he graduated with a degree in theater arts and immediately started auditioning for acting roles in the film industry. His talent and determination caught the attention of William Morris Agency, which signed him to a contract. Subsequently, Mulroney moved to Los Angeles and began his acting career in earnest.

Mulroney made his debut in the TV series "Sin of Innocence" in 1986. Over the next few years, he appeared in several television dramas before landing his first notable role in the action film "Young Guns" in 1988. He then went on to star in various genres, including horror ("Silent Tongue"), crime drama ("The Trigger Effect"), musical ("Songwriter"), western ("The Last Outlaw," "Bad Girls"), and comedy ("Angels in the Outfield," "My Best Friend's Wedding").
In 2003, Mulroney joined the cast of the popular TV series "Friends" as Gavin Mitchell, a love interest of the main character Rachel. He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Gavin. Another successful film for Mulroney was the 2003 drama "The Station Agent," directed by his longtime friend Tom McCarthy. In 2005, he played the lead role in the romantic comedy "The Wedding Date" alongside Debra Messing.

Personal Life
Mulroney was previously married to actress Catherine Keener, whom he met on the set of a film in 1987. They got married in 1990 and have a son named Clyde. They divorced in 2007. Mulroney remarried actress Tharita Cutulle, and they have two children together.
Current Projects
Mulroney continues to act in films and television. In January 2019, he appeared in the action film "Will Gardner," directed by Max Martini. The film also starred Martini, Omari Hardwick, and Lily Rabe. Mulroney portrayed the character Buddy in the movie.
