Early Life and Education
Born in Poland, the renowned cellist pursued his studies at the Lwów Conservatory and later at the Leipzig Conservatory.
Musical Career in Europe
In 1914, he secured the position of principal cellist in the Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra. However, with the outbreak of World War I, he relocated to Russia and performed in Kyiv, Odessa, and Taganrog.
Founding the Poznań Conservatory
Returning to Poland in 1918, he played an instrumental role in establishing the Poznań Conservatory in 1920. He also became a member of the Polish Quartet, founded by Zdzisław Janko.
International Impact in the United States
From 1923 to 1933, he primarily worked in the United States, teaching cello and chamber music at the Cincinnati Conservatory. He also led the cello section of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
Professorship and Return to Poznań
Returning to Poland in 1933, he became a professor at the Lwów Conservatory and principal cellist in the Lwów Opera Orchestra. Two years later, he moved back to Poznań, where he also held professorship and performed as principal cellist in the Opera Theater Orchestra.
