Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Hervé Forneri was born on April 24, 1945, in Nice, France. Inspired by Elvis Presley, he adopted the stage name "Dick Rivers" after the character Elvis played in the 1957 film "Loving You." As lead singer of the group Les Chats Sauvages, Rivers recorded his first song at the age of 15.
Solo Career and Breakthrough
In 1962, Rivers embarked on a successful solo career. He released over 35 albums, including the critically acclaimed "Mister D" in 2011. Rivers toured extensively, performing at prestigious venues such as the Casino de Paris and the Cirque Royal in Brussels.
Late Career and Acting Debut
Unlike other French rock 'n' roll stars like Johnny Hallyday and Eddy Mitchell, Rivers made his acting debut later in life, in 1999. He appeared in films directed by Jean-Pierre Mocky, including "La candide madame Duff" and "Le furet."
