Resurgence in 2008
In late February 2008, Junqueira experienced a resurgence in his career. He achieved impressive results in Challenger tournaments, reaching the semifinals in Chile, the finals in Ecuador, and the semifinals in France. These victories propelled him back into the top 200 players worldwide.
Breakthrough at the French Open
In May 2008, Junqueira achieved a major milestone by winning the Challenger tournament in Italy. He defeated notable opponents such as Dick Norman, Harel Levy, and Máximo González. This triumph earned him a spot in the main draw of the French Open. Junqueira defeated Louis Horna in the qualifying rounds and Adrian Mannarino in the first round before falling to Ivan Ljubičić in the second round.
Grand Slam Appearances
In 2009, Junqueira competed in the Australian Open, losing to Richard Gasquet in the first round despite taking the match to four sets. He also attempted to qualify for Roland Garros in 2010 and 2011 but was unsuccessful in both attempts.
On July 22, 2009, Junqueira made his Wimbledon debut. However, he lost in the first round to fellow Argentinian Guillermo Cañas.
