Early Life and Introduction to JudoDistria Krasniqi, born in 1995, hails from Kosovo and has been making waves in the world of judo since a young age. Her journey began at the tender age of seven when her brother introduced her to the sport.
International Breakthroughs
In 2018, Krasniqi emerged on the international stage by winning a silver medal at the European Championships in the 52 kg weight category. She continued her ascent by claiming a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo, defeating Spain's Laura Martinez in the third-place match.
European Medalist
In 2020, Krasniqi secured another European Championship bronze medal in Prague, despite losing to eventual champion Shirin Boukli in the quarterfinals. However, she stormed back in 2021, becoming the European champion in the 48 kg category at the Lisbon Championships. Her triumph was made even more impressive by the absence of her Ukrainian rival, Daria Bilodid, in the final.

Krasniqi's crowning achievement came at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where she made her Olympic debut. She battled through the competition and ultimately defeated Japan's Funa Tonaki in the gold medal match, capturing the coveted title in the 48 kg weight category.
