Early Life and Modeling Career

Djimon Hounsou was born on April 24, 1964, in Benin, West Africa. At the age of thirteen, his family relocated to Paris, where he completed his education.

At the age of twenty-two, Hounsou was discovered by renowned fashion designer Thierry Mugler. Mugler featured Hounsou in several of his projects, marking the beginning of Hounsou's rise to prominence. He appeared in advertising campaigns for David Fincher (including "Alien 3" and "Se7en") and renowned photographer Herb Ritts.

Transition to Hollywood

In 1990, after achieving recognition as an international model, Hounsou relocated to Los Angeles. To navigate work and communication, he quickly learned English by watching documentaries.
