Born on April 17, 1982, in Cheongwon, South Korea, Lee Si-young's given name was Lee Eun-rae. Raised in a rural village until the age of nine, she moved to Seoul with her family and was captivated by television shows she had never seen before. Despite her aspirations to become an actress, her parents objected and insisted she study design at Dongduk Women's University.
Breaking free from her mother's influence, Lee Si-young auditioned tirelessly for acting roles. Determined to succeed, she underwent plastic surgery and changed her name.
Debut and Rising Fame
At the age of 26, Lee Si-young made her acting debut in a small role in "Urban Legends Deja Vu." Her attractive appearance and uninhibited on-screen presence quickly caught the attention of filmmakers. Within a year, she landed notable supporting roles, including in the popular "Boys Over Flowers" as the infatuated and surgically enhanced Oh Min-ji.
