Dmitrii Iosifov
Biography of Dmitry Iosifov
Dmitry Iosifov is an actor, screenwriter, and director. He was born in Minsk, Belarus to parents who had no connection to the arts - his father was an engineer and his mother was a biologist. Dmitry himself did not dream of a career in film, as he spent most of his free time in figure skating classes. It was during one of these classes that he was discovered by an assistant director from the "Belarusfilm" studio.

At first, Dmitry did not enjoy the experience and even pretended to be ill. However, he was eventually selected for the role of Harlequin in the film. Later, he was also given the opportunity to audition for the roles of Buratino and Malvina, the main characters. Despite initial resistance, he was ultimately chosen for the roles.

The filming of the movie "The Adventures of Buratino" took place in Crimea over a period of 98 days. Dmitry initially struggled with wearing a long nose prosthetic, but he had the support of his grandmother throughout the process. The film was a huge success and many of the lines spoken by the characters became popular catchphrases.
After the success of "The Adventures of Buratino," Dmitry received numerous offers to act in other films. He decided to pursue a career in acting and gave up figure skating. In the following years, he appeared in several children's films, including "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Captain Sorvi-Head."
Despite his success in film, Dmitry had originally planned to pursue a career in powder metallurgy. However, his plans changed when he was accepted into the prestigious Moscow State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) with the support of the director of "Buratino," Leonid Nechaev.
During his time at VGIK, Dmitry met his future wife Natalia. They initially met when he brought his brother's documents to the admissions committee, and Natalia was also applying. Their relationship grew, and they eventually got married and had three sons.
After graduating from VGIK, Dmitry worked in a theater in Minsk for six years while also appearing in various films. He then transitioned to work in advertising and later became a director. He directed episodes of popular TV shows like "The Last Hero" and "And Then There Were None."
In 2005, Dmitry directed a three-episode block for the famous Russian TV series "Deadly Force." The episodes were set in Africa and received positive reviews. Dmitry and his wife also welcomed their third son during this time.
Today, Dmitry and his family live in Moscow. Despite his various roles in film and television, many still recognize him as the beloved character Buratino from his debut film. Dmitry takes it in stride and finds humor in the situation.
