Early Life and Career
Dmitry Kochetkov, a former Russo-German ice hockey goaltender, was born on July 15, 1981, in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. His hockey journey began at the tender age of seven, when he joined the local club Avtomobilist as their starting goaltender. In 1992, at the age of 11, Kochetkov's family relocated to Germany, his mother's country of origin.
Junior and National Team Debut
At the age of 16, Kochetkov made his debut for the German junior national team. In 2000, at the age of 19, he earned his first call-up to the senior German national team.
Club Success
Kochetkov joined Crocodiles Hamburg, a prominent German club, in 2000. This move paved the way for his inclusion in the national team and regular appearances in the Central European Games. In 2007, he transferred to Iserlohn Roosters, where he participated in the German Hockey League All-Star Game twice, in 2007 and 2008.
International Stardom
Kochetkov became a permanent fixture in the German national team, participating in the World Championships in 2007, 2008, and 2010. In 2010, the World Championship was held in Germany, providing Kochetkov with the opportunity to play in front of his home crowd.
KHL Journey
In the summer of 2008, Kochetkov signed with Spartak Moscow. Two years later, he joined Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, where he earned a bronze medal in the Russian Championship. In 2011, he moved to Atlant Moscow Oblast. Despite being a naturalized Russian, Kochetkov was not considered a foreign player in the KHL due to his Russian passport.
