Biography of Dmitry Lazutkin
Dmitry Lazutkin is a Russian and Ukrainian poet living in Ukraine. He graduated from the National Technical University of Ukraine and has worked as a television host, correspondent, and sports commentator on Ukrainian channels such as "Inter" and "Perviy Natsionalniy." In addition to his career in television, Lazutkin has also worked as a metallurgical engineer, lawyer, and karate coach.
Lazutkin has received several awards for his poetry in the Ukrainian language. He was honored with the B.-I. Antonich Prize in 2000, the Smoloskip Publishing Prize in 2002, and the Blagovest Prize. He is also a laureate of the "Granoslov" competition in 2002. Lazutkin is the author of several books of Ukrainian poetry, including "Dakhi" ("Roofs"; K., 2003), "Solodoshchi dlya presmykayushchikhsya" ("Delights for Reptiles"; K., 2005), "Nabity travoyu sviyashchenni korovi" ("Sacred Cows Packed with Grass"; K., 2006), "Benzin" (K., 2008), and "dobri pisni pro poganih divchat" ("good songs about bad girls"; K-Pod, 2012). He is also a champion of Ukraine in literary slam.
His Russian poems have been published in the almanac "Vavilon," magazines "Soyuz Pisateley," "Kontinent," "Volga," "Vozdukh," and the collection "Legko byt iskrennim" ("Easy to be Sincere") among others. Lazutkin's first book of Russian poetry, "Paprika Gryoz" ("Paprika Dreams"), published in 2006 with a foreword by Sergey Zhadan, was shortlisted for the Russian Prize. In 2008, he received the third place in the "Sodruzhestvo" Prize.
Aside from his career in writing and poetry, Lazutkin has also worked as a commentator for various sports events. He has commented on the Olympic Games in Beijing (opening and closing ceremonies, boxing, judo), Vancouver (opening and closing ceremonies, curling, skiing), London (opening ceremony, boxing, judo, taekwondo) on the First National Channel. He has hosted programs such as "In the World of Martial Arts," "About Rugby," "Men's Club," and "Football Samba" (together with Fozzy). Lazutkin commentates on fights of Vladimir and Vitaliy Klitschko, Vasyl Lomachenko, Floyd Mayweather, and others on the Inter channel. In 2012, he was shortlisted for the "Teletriumph" Prize. Lazutkin is also a winner of the European Cup in elite combat sports, a bronze medalist of the World Cup in kickboxing, and the Ukrainian champion in contact karate and Cossack fighting.
