Biography of Dmitry Stoyko

Dmitry Stoyko is a Ukrainian football player and goalkeeper. He began his professional career in the club "Metallurg" from Novomoskovsk, which competed in the Second League of Ukraine. From 1999 to 2001, he played for Kharkiv's "Metalist-2". In early 2002, he transferred to Kirovograd's "Zvezda". In the 2002/03 season, he became the winner of the First League of Ukraine and moved up to the Highest League with his team. He made his debut in the Highest League on July 12, 2003, in a home match against Kyiv's "Arsenal" (1:0). In total, he played 71 matches for "Zvezda" and conceded 58 goals.
In the summer of 2004, Stoyko joined the Poltava team "Vorskla-Neftegaz" and played one season, appearing in 10 matches and conceding 16 goals. In June 2005, he transferred to the newly created club "Kharkiv", where he became the main goalkeeper. On October 26, 2008, during a match against Donetsk's "Shakhtar" (0:0), Stoyko played most of the match with a broken wrist. Despite the injury, he decided to finish the match as the other goalkeeper, Mateusz Nalepa, was ill before the game, and Igor Khodanovich was inexperienced. He did not concede any goals in that match, earning him a spot in the Football.ua team of the round. In total, he played 50 matches for "Kharkiv" in the Ukrainian Championship and conceded 73 goals.
In July 2009, Stoyko signed a contract with the Simferopol team "Tavriya" under the "1+1" scheme. According to head coach Sergei Puchkov, Stoyko was signed as a replacement for Maxim Startsev. He made his debut for the team on August 15, 2009, in an away match of the Ukrainian Cup against Dneprodzerzhinsk's "Stal" (0:4). After Startsev was injured, Stoyko temporarily became the team's main goalkeeper. However, he also suffered an injury, and the coaches decided to include Vadim Deonas in the starting lineup. Stoyko remained a backup goalkeeper for a long time, but when Valery Petrov became the head coach, he once again became the team's main goalkeeper.
