Along with his twin brother Vitaliy, Dmitri attended music school and achieved mastery in Greco-Roman wrestling.

After completing high school in 1984, Dmitri earned degrees in technical cybernetics from the Ural Polytechnic Institute and the Moscow Energy Institute. His academic pursuits ignited his passion for writing, leading him to pursue a career in literature and journalism.
Golden Babay and Zeleny Pes
In 1999, Dmitri and Vitaliy founded the "Golden Babay" contest for Ukrainian crime fiction. The following year, they launched the successful publishing house "Zeleny Pes." Their literary endeavors significantly contributed to the promotion of Ukrainian crime writing.
