Early Life and Education
Captain Taras Pletanchuk, a Ukrainian military officer, hails from the eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk. He pursued his education at the Luhansk Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, earning a degree in jurisprudence. Subsequently, he enrolled at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, graduating with a degree in military journalism. To further his knowledge, he attended the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Academy of Land Forces, specializing in moral and psychological support.
Career Overview
Pletanchuk's professional journey has encompassed various roles in the military and public service. Prior to his military career, he worked intermittently at the "Blue Cat" technical repair service from 1999 to 2016.
He became involved in political activism during the 2014 Ukrainian Revolution, joining the press service of the Mykolaiv branch of the Right Sector. From 2016 to 2020, he served as a press officer in the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade.
In 2022, Pletanchuk was appointed as a press officer in the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, where he worked from March to November. Following the de-occupation of Kherson in November 2022, he headed the press service for the Defense Forces of the city, including the "Thunder" tactical group.
Pletanchuk's career reached a peak in May 2023 when he was appointed as the spokesperson for the Command of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His elevation continued in April 2024 when he assumed the role of spokesperson for the South Defense Forces, succeeding Natalia Humenyuk. However, he relinquished this position in June 2024.

Off the field of battle, Pletanchuk found happiness with Dina Barta, whom he married in 2022. Together, they navigate the challenges and rewards of military life and civilian life.
