Biography of Dominic Monaghan

Early Life and Education

Dominic Bernard Patrick Luke Monaghan was born on December 8, 1976, in Berlin, Germany. His parents, Austin Monaghan and Morin Monaghan, were a teacher and a nurse, respectively. He has an older brother, Matthew, who is a songwriter and vocalist in the indie band 'Radiosepia'. The Monaghan family moved frequently within Germany, living in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Stuttgart, and Munster by the time Dominic was 11. When he turned 11, the Monaghans relocated to Huyton Moor, a suburb of Stockport in Greater Manchester, England. Dominic attended St Anne's Roman Catholic High School in Stockport, where one of his teachers was his uncle. He later enrolled at Aquinas College, studying literature, drama, and geography. Acting was Dominic's main passion, and he was actively involved in school plays and joined the Manchester Youth Theatre. His love for cinema was sparked by the "Star Wars" franchise, and at the age of 15, his father gave him J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" book, not knowing that several years later, the film adaptation would make him a star.
