Don Tapscott, a renowned Canadian author, government advisor, consultant, and speaker, has established himself as a leading expert in business strategy, organizational transformation, and the transformative role of technology in business and society.
Early Life and Education
Don Tapscott pursued a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Statistics, followed by a Master's degree in Education specializing in Research Methodology. He later earned triple honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from the University of Alberta in 2001, Trent University in 2006, and McMaster University in 2010.
Business and Academic Career
In 1993, Tapscott founded the New Paradigm business strategy think tank, which later became nGenera Insight. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Management at the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
Research and Publications
Tapscott has authored or co-authored 14 groundbreaking books that explore the impact of technology on business and society. His most notable work, "Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything" (co-authored with Anthony D. Williams), became an international bestseller and topped BusinessWeek's "Best Business Books" list in 2007. It examines how companies can leverage mass collaboration and open-source principles to achieve commercial success.
The "Grown Up Digital" Generation
In "Grown Up Digital" (2008), Tapscott delved into the global cultural phenomenon known as the Net Generation. Based on extensive research, he developed proposals for a global educational reformation to harness the transformative power of digital technologies.
