Biography of Douglas Sisenando Maicon
Early Life and CareerDouglas Sisenando Maicon was born in Nova Hamburgo, Brazil to Manuel and Asinha Maicon. His parents were big fans of American cinema and named him Michael Douglas after the famous actor. However, due to a registrar's mistake, he was officially named Maicon. Maicon's twin brother, Marlon, was also named after an actor, Marlon Brando. Maicon grew up in Vila Zuleima, Santa Catarina, where he played for the local club, Cruzeiro.
Club Career
Maicon began his professional career at Cruzeiro in 2000 and quickly established himself as a key player for the club. He helped Cruzeiro win the Brazilian Championship and Copa do Brasil in 2003. In 2004, Maicon moved to French club Monaco, where he spent two seasons before joining Inter Milan in 2006. Under the guidance of manager Jose Mourinho, Maicon became an integral part of Inter's success, winning multiple Serie A titles and the UEFA Champions League.
In 2013, Maicon transferred to Roma and played for the club until 2017. He then joined Brazilian club Avai before retiring from professional football.
International Career
Maicon represented Brazil at various levels, starting with the youth national team. He made his debut for the senior national team in 2003 and went on to play in several tournaments, including the Copa America and FIFA World Cup. Maicon was a key player for Brazil in their successful campaigns at the 2007 Copa America and the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
However, his international career came to an end in 2014 when he was expelled from the national team after a prank on a teammate.
