Biography of Drake
Early Life and CareerDrake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, was born on October 24, 1986, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His mother worked as a teacher, while his father and two brothers were professional musicians. Drake's father moved to Canada from a poor, predominantly black neighborhood in Memphis, Tennessee, while his mother was an American Jew. As a result, Drake went through all the necessary Jewish rituals and is considered Jewish by law, although he does not actively practice any religion.
At the age of 15, Drake landed a role in the television series "Degrassi: The Next Generation" through a friend whose father worked in the industry. This marked his first step towards fame. However, around the same time, his parents announced their divorce, and Drake had to start earning money to support himself and his mother. While reminiscing about his television work, Drake mentioned both the good and bad moments. Despite the show making him well-known and opening doors for his future career, he struggled to make ends meet with a salary that was not even close to that of a school teacher.
Musical Breakthrough
In 2006, Drake began recording his first songs. His debut project, "Room for Improvement," was released independently in February of the same year and gained popularity among rap music enthusiasts. Drake described the work as "straightforward and radio-friendly, but lacking substance." In September 2013, Drake became the ambassador for the Toronto Raptors basketball team. His responsibilities include preparing for the team's 20th anniversary, designing and updating team uniforms and merchandise, and organizing concerts. The contract with his favorite team opened a new chapter in Drake's life, and he vowed to do everything possible to be valuable to both the players and the team's owners.
