Duncan James is an accomplished English singer, actor, and television presenter known for his involvement in the British boy band Blue.
Early Life and Influences
Born on April 7, 1978, in Salisbury, Wiltshire, Duncan moved to Devon at age 13 to live with his mother and grandparents. Growing up, he was greatly influenced by his grandfather, a music teacher, and his mother, who frequently took him to London's West End theater productions. Duncan studied drama and excelled in amateur theater.
Formation of Blue
Fate intervened when Duncan crossed paths with Lee Ryan, Simon Webbe, and Anthony Costa during a round of auditions. Recognizing their shared musical passion, they formed the band Blue in 2001, which catapulted the group to international fame.
Personal Life
Duncan James welcomed a daughter named Tianie Finn with his former girlfriend Claire Grainger in 2005. In 2009, he publicly came out as bisexual in an interview with the News of the World. In 2013, he identified as gay.
