Dwight Schultz was born on November 24, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Calvert Hall College High School and went on to earn a degree from Towson University, both institutions located in Towson, Maryland.

Theater Roots

Schultz began his acting journey on the stage, performing in plays at New York City theaters in the late 1970s. He made his Broadway debut in "The Water Engine/Mr. Happiness" in 1978 and appeared in several other Broadway productions until 1980.

Television Breakthrough: "The A-Team"

In 1981, Schultz transitioned to television with his breakthrough role as the mentally unstable Captain "Howling Mad" Murdoch in the popular action-adventure series "The A-Team." Despite creators initially planning to phase out Murdoch after the pilot episode, his popularity with viewers ensured his prominence throughout the series' 97 episodes.

Alongside his extensive television work, Schultz has also appeared in several notable films, including "The Fan" (1981), "Fat Man and Little Boy" (1989), and "The Final Cut" (1996).
