Early Career

Igors Stepanovs, a renowned Latvian footballer, was born in Riga, Latvia. His love for the game began at a young age, leading him to join his first club, Pardaugava, in 1993. Throughout his early career, he represented Latvia's U-17 and U-19 youth teams.

Liepāja Metalurgs

In 1997, Stepanovs made his breakthrough when he joined Liepāja Metalurgs. Over the next 13 seasons, he became an integral part of the team, amassing almost 400 appearances. With Metalurgs, he celebrated numerous podium finishes in the Latvian Higher League and lifted the Latvian Cup in 2006.

National Team Success

Stepanovs' international career took off in 1997 when he debuted for the Latvian national team against Azerbaijan. He went on to earn 58 caps for his country, including a historic appearance at the UEFA Euro 2004 tournament. Leading the team as captain in 2010, he played his final game in November of that year against China.
