Early Career
Edgar Gaurač, a Latvian striker, began his professional career with FK Dižvanagi Rēzekne in 2003. After honing his skills in Italy during trials with AC Milan, Sampdoria, and Lazio, he secured a contract with Ascoli in 2009.
Return to Latvia and Recognition
Despite not playing for Ascoli, Gaurač returned to his homeland in 2009 and signed with FK Ventspils to prepare for the UEFA Europa League. He made his debut in the competition against Hertha BSC and scored a crucial equalizer. His impressive performance during the group stage drew attention from several prominent clubs in Romania and Greece.
Romanian Adventure and Setbacks
Gaurač joined FC Rapid București on loan from Ventspils, with the Romanian side expressing optimism about his potential and the possibility of a permanent deal. However, injuries plagued his time at Rapid, limiting him to just six appearances without scoring a goal. He returned to Ventspils as a free agent in June 2010.
Success in Moldova
In August 2010, Gaurač went on trial with FC Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova. He impressed the coaching staff and signed a contract with the club on August 25, 2010, making him eligible for European competitions. Gaurač made an immediate impact, scoring a hat-trick in his debut match and contributing to Sheriff's memorable victory over Dynamo Kyiv in Europe.
Departure from Sheriff and Move to Russia
Despite scoring 11 goals in 12 Moldovan league matches, Gaurač terminated his contract in early 2011 to pursue opportunities in a more competitive league. He joined FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk in the Russian First Division and became a regular contributor to the team.
