Early Years and Building a Sound
Throughout the 1990s, Edip Complex honed its craft on the stages of St. Petersburg and Moscow, gradually developing its distinctive style. The band's popularity soared in 1996 with the release of their iconic song "Old Mother Europe," which became a hit on Radio Maksimum. This success was followed by the release of their debut album, "Egoism," which cemented their reputation as one of the most promising bands in the Russian rock scene.
European Ambitions and International Success
Eager for international recognition, Edip Complex set its sights on Europe. The band received invitations from several British clubs and had one of their tracks featured on a compilation album by Talent Scout, which showcased the best unsigned bands from the United Kingdom.

In 1998, Edip Complex disbanded due to a combination of personal and creative differences. However, fate had a different plan for the band.
