Early Life and Education

Edvard Avakyan was born in an unspecified year and graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Yerevan State University in 1952.

Literary Career

Avakyan's literary pursuits spanned poetry and prose. He translated works such as Shelley's poems, Petrarch's sonnets, Camões's poetry, and novels and stories by Jack London, S. Marshak, E. Lear, and others. His poetic translations included works by Pushkin, Blok, and Nekrasov.

Prose Works

Avakyan's first book of short stories was published in the 1960s, followed by his novel "We Live on Konde," an acclaimed account of his formative years in Yerevan. He also penned historical novels such as "One Life is Not Enough" (about Oвсеп Emin) and "The Last Bell of Urfa" (about Armenian resistance in 1915).

Children's Literature

Avakyan was a prolific children's author with dozens of books to his name, including "Rainbow," "Guests from the Sun," and "Magic World."

Editorial and Journalism

Avakyan spent over four decades as a senior editor at various publishing houses, including "Aypetrat," "Sovetaakan Grokh," and "Arevik." He actively supported aspiring writers and contributed hundreds of publications to Armenian periodicals.

Recognitions and Awards

Avakyan was a member of the Writers' Union and Journalists' Union of Armenia. He received numerous accolades, including the "Golden Magic World" medal from the Writers' Union of Armenia and the title of "Honored Worker of Culture."
