Eduard Shifrin, a businessman and philanthropist, was born in 1960. He attended a specialized physics school, and upon graduating in 1977, he decided to continue his family's tradition and pursue a career in metallurgy, just like his parents. Shifrin enrolled in the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, where he studied at the faculty of physical chemistry and graduated with honors in 1983. During his time at university, he actively engaged in scientific research, publishing several papers and participating in scientific conferences.
After completing his studies, Shifrin was assigned to work at the Zaporizhzhia-based "Dniprospetsstal" plant, one of the giants of the Ukrainian metallurgical industry. He started his professional journey as an assistant to a workshop supervisor. Due to his passion for the industry and his exceptional organizational skills, Shifrin quickly rose through the ranks and became the youngest head of the largest steelmaking workshop in Europe. Despite his busy schedule, he successfully defended his dissertation and obtained a scientific degree as a candidate of technical sciences.
In 1993, Shifrin ventured into business while still maintaining his involvement in the field of metallurgy. His dedication and expertise in both areas led to his recognition as a laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology in 1999 for his contribution as one of the authors of the fundamental textbook "Theory of Metallurgical Processes." Shifrin's commitment to the Jewish community is evident through his active participation as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kiev City Jewish Community. He also provides significant financial support for community programs.
Outside of his professional and philanthropic endeavors, Shifrin is a married man and is the proud father of three children.
