Efi Achtsioglou: A Rising Star in Greek Politics
Early Life and EducationEfi Achtsioglou, a prominent Greek politician, was born on January 4, 1985, in Yanitsa. She excelled academically, earning a Bachelor of Laws with honors from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki's Law School. In 2009, she obtained a Master's degree with distinction in International Public Law and Political Science. Notably, she completed her doctoral thesis in Labour Law in 2014 under the supervision of Professor Aristides Kazakos.
Professional Career
Before entering politics, Achtsioglou held several professional roles. From 2009 to 2013, she served as a teaching assistant at the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She also worked as a lawyer and a researcher at the Centre of International and European Economic Law (CIEEL) in Thessaloniki. Additionally, she served as a political advisor to a SYRIZA MEP in the European Parliament.
Political Ascent
Achtsioglou became a member of SYRIZA's Central Committee. Her political breakthrough came on November 5, 2016, when she was appointed Minister of Labour and Social Protection. At 31 years old, she became the youngest minister in Tsipras' second cabinet.
Electoral Success
In the July 7, 2019, parliamentary elections, Achtsioglou was elected as a member of the Hellenic Parliament. She continues to serve as a member of parliament today.
