Major General Yoav Dan Got
Early Life and Military CareerYoav Dan Got was born in 1960 and joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in 1978. He began his service in the Artillery Corps, holding various command positions, including Chief Instructor of the Artillery School.
Combat Experience and Leadership Roles
In 1982, Dan Got fought in the Lebanon War as an artillery battalion commander. From 1989 to 1990, he commanded the "Reshef" Battalion of the "Amud Ha-Esh" Artillery Brigade. Subsequently, he became the commander of the Artillery Officers' Course.
Senior Command and Staff Roles
Diplomatic and Training PositionsIn 1992, Dan Got was appointed as military attaché and Israeli Defense Ministry representative to the Netherlands. From 1995 to 1997, he concurrently served as commander of the Artillery Division in the Land Forces Training Center and head of the Artillery Department in the Southern Command.
Command and Planning
From 1997 to 1999, Dan Got commanded the Artillery School. In 1999, he became the head of the Organizational Department in the IDF's General Staff Planning Directorate. In 2001, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Logistics Command.
Crisis Management and Humanitarian Operations
As Chief of Staff of the Logistics Command, Dan Got led the Israeli rescue expedition to Kenya following the Paradise Hotel bombing in Mombasa on November 28, 2002.
Defense Ministry Liaison and Government Coordinator
In 2004, Dan Got became the military secretary to the Minister of Defense, serving under Shaul Mofaz, Amir Peretz, and Ehud Barak. On November 26, 2009, he was promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories within the IDF. He held this position until January 29, 2014.
Education and Personal Life
Dan Got holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and economics from Bar-Ilan University. He is married to Orna Dan Got and has four children. He resides in Netanya.
