Early Life and Education

Ekaterina Olkina, the actress, was born on November 8, 1985, in the small town of Kotlas in the Arkhangelsk region. However, she spent her childhood and school years in Samara. As a young child, Ekaterina showed talent and versatility in various activities, including dancing, swimming, and painting. But her true passion was singing, and she excelled in classical and jazz vocals, participating in various competitions. She attended a specialized gymnasium and studied foreign languages, planning to pursue English philology in the future.

At the age of fifteen, Ekaterina participated in a Russian-French project called "L'autre monde" (The Other World), a musical. After a rigorous casting process, she was selected for the lead role. The rehearsals took place in Samara and Moscow, followed by a month-long stay in France, where they presented their work to French audiences. It was during this time that Ekaterina realized her calling to become a "singing" actress.

Upon the advice of her mother, Ekaterina decided to pursue acting and applied to the Moscow College of Popular Music and Jazz. However, due to a mix-up at the metro station, she ended up at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) and successfully passed the auditions for the music department. Although her dream of becoming a musical theater actress didn't come true, her teacher, A.A. Barmak, recognized her talent for film acting and encouraged her to audition for movie roles.

In 2006, Ekaterina made her screen debut in the historical detective film "Stalin.Live" as the character Zoia. She went on to appear in several TV series and films, including "Morozov," "Servant of the Sovereign," and "Kolobkov. The Real Colonel." In the film "Volga Runs," she played the lead female role of Lyuda, working alongside renowned actor Vladimir Menshov and learning the intricacies of film acting from director Alexey Borisov.

Ekaterina's talent and stunning appearance garnered her numerous positive reviews and opportunities in the television industry. She portrayed diverse characters such as Nadezhda in "The Road to Easter Island" (2012), Nina Poletayeva in the crime retro-series "Once in Rostov" (2012), and the brave journalist Yevgeniya Kolesnikova in "The Antidote for Death" (2012).

Ekaterina Olkina's recent works include the TV series "While the Village Sleeps" (2014), where she played Alena Skornyakova, and the comedy film "Turnaround" (2014), in which she starred alongside Nikolay Baskov.
