Biography of Elena Gavrilova

Elena Mikhailovna Gavrilova was born on November 21, 1955, in Moscow. She graduated from the Economic-Statistical Institute in 1977, majoring in Mechanized Processing of Economic Information.

After completing her education, Elena worked as a programmer at the Main Computing Center of the Central Statistical Administration from 1977 to 1983. In 1978, she got married and in 1983, she gave birth to a daughter. Until 1992, Elena did not work and focused on raising her child. However, she then decided to find her own way and by chance got a job in a private publishing house that produced a newspaper for advertisements. Soon, she realized that she could lead a similar enterprise herself.

On October 6, 1992, Elena registered the employment newspaper "Work for You". She faced the problem of funding and initially borrowed money from relatives for the first edition. Later, she reinvested the proceeds from retail sales of the newspaper into production. Initially, the newspaper had 4 pages with a circulation of 15,000 copies per week.

Today, according to the "Gallup Media" research, "Work for You" is the leading employment publication. It releases four issues per week (on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) with a circulation of 230,000 copies, featuring over 20,000 vacancies from direct employers and recruitment agencies. Additionally, 30 regional editions in cities such as St. Petersburg, Novgorod, and Voronezh help job seekers find employment across Russia. In spring 2000, an online version of the newspaper, rabota.ru, was created.

In 1995, Elena founded the magazine "Where to Go to Study", which now has a circulation of 20,000 copies per week. Since 1997, she has also been publishing the magazine "Your Leisure" with a circulation of 50,000 copies per week, including regional editions in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Samara. In 1997, the first issue of the newspaper "Elite Personnel" was released (current circulation – 35,000 copies per week), and in 1998, the newspaper "First-Hand Information" was established with a circulation of 35,000 copies.

In August 1998, the former knitwear factory near Taganskaya metro station was purchased and is now the office of the Publishing House "Work for You", covering an area of 3,000 square meters.

Currently, the Publishing House "Work for You" produces five informational and advertising publications and employs over 450 people. In May 2002, Elena Gavrilova was awarded the prestigious National Olympus Medal for Women's Achievements, presented by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
