Elena Grushina, a Ukrainian ice dancer, made her mark in the world of ice sports. Alongside her partner, Ruslan Goncharov, she achieved notable success in their field.

Early Career and Rise to Prominence

Grushina began skating with Goncharov in 1990. Over the years, they trained with renowned coaches such as Natalia Linichuk, Gennady Karponosov, Tatiana Tarasova, and Nikolai Morozov. The pair steadily rose through the ranks, earning multiple medals at European Championships and emerging as the champions of the Winter Universiade.

Olympic Bronze and Retirement

The pinnacle of their career came in 2006 when they clinched the bronze medal in the ice dance competition at the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Following their Olympic success, Grushina and Goncharov retired from amateur sports and were named Ukraine's Sportspersons of the Year by the National Olympic Committee.

Post-Retirement Life

In 1995, Grushina and Goncharov tied the knot and settled in Connecticut, USA. They continued to showcase their skills in various ice shows and tours across the United States, Russia, and Ukraine. Grushina also ventured into coaching, working with the rising Ukrainian dance pair Anna Zadorozhnyuk and Sergiy Verbillo under the guidance of Morozov.

Television Appearance and Personal Life

In 2007, Grushina participated in the Russian television show "Dancing on Ice: Velvet Season." She performed with television host Mikhail Zelensky, and their partnership earned them second place in the finale. Shortly after, she divorced Goncharov and gave birth to a daughter with Zelensky in late 2008.
