Elena Kampouris, an American actress, was born on September 16, 1997, in New York City. Raised with her older brother, Emmanuel, in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey, she attended Bridgewater-Raritan High School for a brief time before transitioning to homeschooling with a tutor. Her mother, Ivie, is an illustrator and designer of French and English descent, while her father, Alexander, is a Greek-born owner of a wine shop. Kampouris's family regularly vacations on the Greek island of Kasos, her father's birthplace.
Artistic Beginnings
From a young age, Kampouris pursued her passion for the arts, exploring poetry, photography, and botany. However, her love for acting eventually took precedence. At age 12, she received recognition from the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University for her work in theater.
Film Breakthrough
Kampouris made her film debut in 2012 with a small role in the fifth season of the television series "Gossip Girl." In 2013, she played the mean-spirited high schooler Evy in the Nickelodeon teen comedy "Jinxed!" Her breakthrough performance came in the 2013 drama "Labor Day," alongside Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.
