Biography of Elena Panova

Early Life

Elena Panova was born on June 9, 1977, in the city of Arkhangelsk, Russia, into a creative family. Her father, Victor Panov, is a theater director and the artistic director of the Arkhangelsk Youth Theater. Her mother is a piano teacher at the Arkhangelsk Pedagogical College. Surprisingly, Elena never thought about pursuing a career in theater and still cannot play the piano. In her childhood, Elena was involved in dancing in a choreographic ensemble and dreamt of becoming a ballerina. However, at a young age, she stepped onto the stage for the first time and fell in love with acting.

Theater Career

It wasn't easy for Elena to get into theater school. She was accepted into the Moscow Art Theatre School (MXAT) on her second attempt, and she has no regrets as she was able to study under the guidance of Oleg Efremov. In 1999, Elena graduated from MXAT and was accepted into the troupe of the Moscow Art Theatre named after Chekhov (MXT). Over the years, Elena has played a variety of roles in MXT productions, such as "The Storm" (Katerina), "The Kingdom of Women" (Glagoleva), "And the Light Shines in the Darkness..." (Governess), "The Beatles Girls" (Michelle), "The Forest Song" (Mavka), "A Slight Taste of Betrayal" (Katya), "Oblomov" (Girl), "Crime and Punishment" (Sonya), "Yu" (Anya), "Ivanov" (Babkina), "The Duel" (Nadezhda Fedorovna), "In a Distant Country" (Kathryn, wife of Antoine), "The Run" (Serafima Korzukhina).

Film and Television Career

In 1997, Elena made her film debut as a radio operator in a secret unit in the comedy "New Year's Story." In 1999, she received an offer to play the lead role of Irina, a Russian girl, in the film "Berezina or The Last Days of Switzerland" directed by Daniel Schmid. Although the film was not well received by critics, Elena's performance was praised. One of her most notable roles in cinema is Galina Zhgut in the TV series "Border. Taiga Romance," which was released in 2001. For her work in this project, Elena was awarded the State Prize of Russia.

Over the next decade, Elena actively appeared in films and TV series, primarily in serials. She played roles in projects such as "Kamenskaya-2," "The Station," "MUR is MUR," "The Bewitched Station," "Law and Order: Division of Operational Investigation-2," and "The Hunter."
