Early Life and Volleyball Career
Elena Akhaminova was born into a family of sports enthusiasts, with her father being a volleyball player from Kabardino-Balkaria and her mother a basketball player. She took up volleyball in 1973 at the Urachka Youth Sports School in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) under the guidance of coach Yuri Nikolayevich Filimonov.
Domestic Club Success and Soviet National Team
Elena Akhaminova played for Urachka from 1977 to 1982, winning five USSR Championships and two European Champions Cup titles. In 1982, she moved to Odessa and joined MedIn, where she won two more USSR Championship medals, a USSR Cup, and the CEV Cup Winners' Cup.
While playing for the USSR national team from 1979 to 1983, Elena Akhaminova achieved immense success. She became an Olympic champion in 1980, a European champion in 1979, and a bronze medalist at the 1981 World Cup. She also won two silver medals at the European Championships (1981 and 1983).
International Club Career and Personal Life
After her time with MedIn, Elena Akhaminova played for several European clubs, including Haukiputaan Heitto (Finland), Dynamo-Dzhizestra (Ukraine), Police (Poland), and Himik (Ukraine). She married Igor Sokolovsky, a football player for FC Chornomorets Odesa, in 1981 and adopted the surname Sokolovskaya.
Coaching and Administrative Career
Elena Sokolovskaya returned to volleyball as the head coach of Dzhizestra from 2006 to 2012. She then served as a city council deputy for the Party of Regions and later as head of the Odessa City Council's Department of Physical Education and Sports. In 2015, she became the director of the Dzhizestra Children's and Youth Sports School.

Elena Sokolovskaya has received numerous honours and awards throughout her career, including:
