Biography of Elizabeth Tursynbayeva
Elizabeth Tursynbayeva is a Kazakhstani figure skater who competes in ladies' singles. She was born in Moscow, Russia, where her father Baytak Tursynbayev, a lawyer by profession, was involved in business. Her mother, Sultanaliyeva Padishakhan, a native of Aksy District, Kirghiz SSR, graduated from the Economics Faculty of Moscow State University. When her mother was in the maternity ward, she often watched the movie "Cleopatra" with Elizabeth Taylor and named her daughter after her.

In her childhood, Elizabeth suffered from frequent illnesses due to weak immunity, so her parents introduced her to figure skating, just like her brother Timur. Timur became a two-time champion of the ESHVM "Moskvich" club, winning several Russian and international tournaments. However, her father often took his children to Kazakhstani tournaments, and when Elizabeth won "gold" at the Moscow Junior Championships in the spring of 2013 and was included in the Moscow and Russian national team, the family had a discussion and decided that Elizabeth would compete for the Kyzylorda region and Kazakhstan. The governor of the Kyzylorda region, Krymbek Kusherbayev, took Elizabeth under his patronage. Since the spring of 2014, the oil company "SP "Kazgermunai" has also started providing sponsorship assistance. Since then, Elizabeth has become a four-time champion of Kazakhstan among adults in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
