Biography of Elizaveta Dal
Elizaveta Dal was the wife of actor Oleg Dal. They were brought together by their work on the film "King Lear" directed by Grigori Kozintsev in 1969. Oleg Dal played the role of the Fool, while Elizaveta worked as an editor. Although they did not have a romantic relationship during the filming of the movie, Elizaveta inexplicably told Oleg to come to her in Leningrad and promised to show him what happiness was.
Oleg eventually visited Elizaveta in Leningrad and they developed a deep connection. They decided to get married, and Oleg insisted on the importance of having a marriage certificate in order to avoid any humiliation. They exchanged telegrams and letters filled with love and affection during their courtship and early marriage.
After their marriage, Elizaveta and Oleg went through several years of living in small apartments with poor living conditions. However, they were content with each other's company and their sense of humor. They eventually moved to a spacious apartment on Smolensky Boulevard, which brought them great joy and happiness. Oleg had his own study where he could read, write, paint, and listen to music, and Elizaveta cherished their life together.
Elizaveta's mother-in-law, Olga Borisovna Eichenbaum, was the daughter of a renowned philologist, Boris Mikhailovich Eichenbaum. Elizaveta was only 22 years old when her grandfather passed away, but she would later meet Oleg Dal, who reminded her of her grandfather's charm and wit.
After Oleg's death, Elizaveta spent 22 years cherishing his memory. She loved him quietly and deeply, without seeking attention or sympathy from others. She maintained a close connection with Oleg's fans and admirers, and they never let go of the memory of Oleg Dal.
Elizaveta's sister, Tamara, played a significant role in connecting Elizaveta with others who admired Oleg Dal. She arranged a meeting between Elizaveta and Alexander Ivanov, one of the compilers of a collection of memories about Oleg Dal. This meeting led to new friendships and connections.
In her later years, Elizaveta rarely left her home, but she always made sure to visit Oleg's grave. People would often be present at his grave, and Elizaveta felt that Oleg's spirit was still with her. She was deeply touched when she discovered that Oleg Dal was the favorite actor of Oleg Menshikov, who had a portrait of Dal in his office.
Elizaveta passed away on May 21, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to Oleg Dal. She will always be remembered as a woman who loved deeply and cherished the memory of her beloved husband.
