Emil Forsberg is a Swedish footballer and a winger for the German club RB Leipzig and the Swedish national team. He was born on October 23, 1991, in Sundsvall, Sweden.

Early Career

Forsberg began his football career at his hometown club, Sundsvall. On May 10, 2009, he made his debut in the Superettan league against Qviding. Later that year, on October 24, he scored his first goal for the club against Landskrona. In 2011, Forsberg helped Sundsvall secure promotion to the Allsvenskan league, but the team was relegated the following year.

Move to Malmo

In early 2013, Forsberg transferred to Malmo FF. On March 31, he made his debut for the new club against Halmstad. On June 1, he scored his first goals for Malmo in a match against Brommapojkarna. In the same year, he became a champion and winner of the Swedish Super Cup with Malmo. Forsberg also played a crucial role in the qualification round of the UEFA Champions League, scoring goals against Sparta Prague and Red Bull Salzburg to help the team reach the group stage.

RB Leipzig and International Career

On January 7, 2015, Forsberg joined the German club RB Leipzig, signing a contract until 2018. The transfer fee amounted to 3.5 million euros. He made his debut in the 2. Bundesliga against Erzgebirge on February 6 and scored his first goal for the club against Groter on August 3. In 2016, Forsberg played a vital role in helping Leipzig secure promotion to the Bundesliga. On August 28, he made his Bundesliga debut against Hoffenheim, and on September 17, he scored his first goal in the top division of German football against Hamburg.

Forsberg made his international debut for the Swedish national team on January 17, 2014, in a friendly match against Moldova. On November 14, he scored his first goal for the national team in a playoff match against Denmark for the UEFA Euro 2016 qualification. He was selected to represent Sweden in the Euro 2016 tournament in France, where he played against Ireland, Italy, and Belgium.

In a World Cup qualification match against Belarus on March 25, 2017, Forsberg scored a brace. He also participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, playing against South Korea, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, and England. He scored a goal in the match against Switzerland.

On June 18, 2021, Forsberg led the Swedish national team to victory against Slovakia in the group stage of the UEFA Euro 2020, converting a penalty kick in the second half (1-0). He also scored two goals against Poland in a match held in Saint Petersburg on June 23, 2021 (3-2).
