Early Life and Amateur Career
Gustavo Oscar Dezotti was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and began his football career in local amateur clubs.
Professional Club Career
Penarol and All Boys (1976-1979)Dezotti made his professional debut with Penarol in 1976, playing there until 1978. In 1979, he returned to Argentina to join All Boys.
Independiente and Club America (1980-1985)
From 1980 to 1982, Dezotti played for Independiente in Argentina. He then joined Club America in Mexico, where he spent three seasons.
Repatriation to Israel and Maccabi Haifa (1985-1988)
In 1985, Dezotti repatriated to Israel and joined Maccabi Haifa. He represented Israel internationally from 1986 to 1988.
Coaching Career
Maccabi Kfar Kanna and Maccabi Herzliya (1996-1998)After retiring as a player, Dezotti became a coach, starting with Maccabi Kfar Kanna in 1996. He later coached Maccabi Herzliya.
Maccabi Haifa (1998-1999)
In 1998, Dezotti returned to Maccabi Haifa as coach, guiding them to several successes.
Veracruz and Club America (2002, 2007-2008)
Dezotti made brief coaching stints with Veracruz in Mexico in 2002 and again with Club America from 2007 to 2008.
