Biography of Emily Bronte

Emily Jane Bronte was born on July 30, 1818, and passed away on December 19, 1848. She was a British writer who became famous after the publication of her novel "Wuthering Heights". Emily Bronte grew up in a poor English family, one of five children, including the renowned English writer Charlotte Bronte. Her mother died shortly after the birth of her youngest sister Anne. Unable to cope with the children, their father decided to send the daughters to the Cowan Bridge School. However, after a few months spent at this institution, Emily fell seriously ill. The teachers were cruel and heartless towards many of the children, prompting their father to bring them back home. Even at a young age, Emily began to show her writing talent, quickly learning how to read and write. As she got older, she started documenting her own short stories. In 1835, Emily Bronte was sent to the Roe Head School for further education but soon returned home, unable to stay away from her family for long. In 1837, Emily found work as a governess, as she had not received a proper education. Her life took a significant turn in 1842 when she decided to move to Brussels in order to pursue further education. Throughout this time, Emily Bronte never stopped recording her thoughts, stories, and poems. She accumulated a large collection of poems that she dreamed of publishing. Her first book, a collection of poems titled "Poems by Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell," gained attention from poetry enthusiasts, and critics started giving positive reviews of her work, opening up doors of opportunity for Emily. The peak of Emily's fame came in 1847 when she published her novel "Wuthering Heights," which became immensely popular among readers. This novel can be considered a masterpiece as Emily not only shocked readers with its cruel and horrifying details but also made them reflect on their own lives and become wiser and stronger. Emily Bronte was a reserved and quiet person. Apart from her sisters, no one knew her true nature and character. She tried not to divulge her emotional struggles and problems.
