Early Life
Emma Holly was born in 1961 in New Jersey and grew up in Baltimore, where she lived with her older sister, Lori. Reflecting on her teenage fantasies, Holly recalls always wanting to be the bride of Batman. During this formative period, she also knew she wanted to become a writer.
Writing Career
After ten years of honing her craft, Holly finally sold her first book in 1998. In April 2011, she announced her decision to pursue an independent path due to her disappointing experience with the traditional publishing system and her desire to regain the joy of writing. She stated, "Writing is amazing. People who engage in it should enjoy it as much as those who read the results. I'm not saying my publishers denied me that. I'm just saying I'm losing my creative excitement. Instead of letting that continue, I've decided to go on an adventure."
As an independent publisher, Holly vowed to release her books more frequently and explore new narrative worlds for her fans. She revealed that she was already working on a novella called "The Prince With No Heart," inspired by magical stories. Additionally, she mentioned her ongoing efforts in urban fantasy featuring werewolf police officers.
