Emma Stuart: A Journey from Anorexia to Motherhood
Early Struggles with Eating DisordersEmma Stuart, a former anorexic from Elgin, Scotland, began experiencing problems with her eating behavior when she was just 15 years old. Despite her efforts, she could not overcome her illness until a miraculous turn of events changed her life forever.

Battle with Anorexia
At the age of 15, Emma weighed slightly less than 50 kg with a height of 155 cm, and her slender figure was envied by many young women. However, this was not enough for her. Emma attempted to lose weight before her vacation, and her sensitive teenage body simply spiraled out of control. Her battle with anorexia disrupted her life for the next eight years, and at one point, as a young adult, she weighed an unimaginable 28 kg – a weight considered normal for 8-9-year-old girls.

Motherhood as a Lifesaver
Today, Emma is healthy, looks great, and her well-being is no longer at risk. She believes that motherhood saved her life. Losing friends due to anorexia, she knows that she cannot completely rid herself of the illness, but just a glance at her daughter, Kacy, makes her stronger. Emma claims that her daughter has helped her more than any doctor. When her weight dropped to a critical 28 kg, Emma barely existed on half an apple per day and took up to 150 laxative tablets daily. Even when doctors warned her about the dangers to her health and the possibility of imminent death, Emma did not listen. All she wanted was to be even thinner. In principle, Emma wanted to become a mother someday, but the thought of gaining any weight terrified her.
A Turning Point
The turning point came when Emma realized that her friends and family thought she would not survive. It was only then that she began slowly stepping away from the edge of the abyss. She gained weight very slowly and settled at a healthy 50 kg. After moving into her own apartment, Emma met a roofer named David, who taught her to accept her body and supported her on bad days. They started living together and were happy, but they felt something was missing – a child. Emma feared that her anorexia and the tons of laxatives she had taken had left her infertile, so the news of her pregnancy came as a surprising miracle.
Overcoming Fears for Motherhood
Old fears about weight sometimes haunted her, but with David's support, Emma managed to overcome her illness and carried and gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Previously, her only concern was her own body, but now her daughter, Kacy, took the center stage in Emma's life. Whenever she feels tempted to refuse food or induce vomiting, Emma looks at her daughter and feels stronger. Kacy truly saved her life.
