Early Life and Education
Enos Stanley Kroenke was born in 1947 in Columbia, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Real Estate Career
In 1983, Kroenke founded his own construction company, specializing in developing shopping centers and residential communities. He later became the chairman of THF Realty, an independent homebuilding company based in St. Louis, founded in 1991.
Marriage and Walmart Connection
Kroenke is married to Ann Walton, an heiress to the multi-billion dollar Walmart retail empire. At the time of their engagement, Kroenke was building warehouses for Walmart.
Sports Business Empire
Kroenke is a prominent figure in the sports industry. He owns Kroenke Sports Enterprise and is a co-owner of the National Football League (NFL). In 2000, he became the full owner of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Hockey League (NHL) teams in Denver. In 2002, he partnered with John Elway to own the Denver Broncos professional football team. In 2004, he purchased the Colorado Mammoth and Colorado Rapids soccer teams from Phil Anschutz. He also owns Dick's Sporting Goods Park, built by his construction company.
Media Ventures
In 2004, Kroenke launched his own sports channel, competing with Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain.
Arsenal FC Investment
Kroenke recently became a major investor in Arsenal FC, an English football club. He acquired a 12.19 percent stake in the club, however, its board has expressed skepticism about ongoing cooperation with him.
