Erivan Haub, born on September 29, 1932, is the richest person in Germany. With a fortune estimated at $4.9 billion, he holds the 17th position in Forbes' list of the wealthiest individuals in Germany. Haub comes from a family with a rich entrepreneurial background, as his genealogical roots trace back to the Schmitz-Scholl family, who owned the retail company "Tengelmann."

After the end of World War II, Haub took on a government position in 1952. Later, he underwent training in commerce management at companies such as "Jewel Tea" in Chicago and "La Habra." Upon returning to Germany, he began studying economics at the University of Hamburg. In March 1969, Haub's uncle, Karl Schmitz-Scholl, passed away, leading to Haub assuming the role of CEO at "Tengelmann."

Under Haub's leadership, the company shifted its focus to coffee sales in 1971. In 1972, he created the discount store chain "Einzelhandels' discounter plus," which gained global recognition over time.

The "Tengelmann" conglomerate is headquartered in Mülheim, Germany. It has numerous subsidiaries, including "A&P Tea Company," "Kaiser's Tengelmann," "Czech Rep," and "KiK Textilien." While these are some of the largest subsidiaries, there are also several medium-sized and small enterprises. Haub's companies can primarily be found in Germany, with some presence in Europe and a few in the United States. One of his American companies is "The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company," known as "A&P," operating hypermarkets and 456 warehouses in states such as Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

The company's central offices are located in Montvale, New Jersey. This supermarket chain generates an annual revenue of $6.9 billion and ranks 35th in the list of the largest retailers in the United States. Recently, Haub stepped down as the head of "Tengelmann."

Among Germany's wealthy individuals, Haub stands out as someone who greatly admires America. He has acquired a ski resort in the Cascade Mountains, a ranch in Wyoming, and a plot of land in Washington. He also provides sponsorship support to St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, earning him an honorary award from the institution.

Currently, at 75 years old, Erivan Haub's fortune is estimated at $4.9 billion. He holds the 17th position in Forbes' list of the richest people in Germany.
